Obviously, each of us gets distracted from time to time. Sometimes we daydream or cannot concentrate on some urgent task. Eventually, we manage to deal with it. However, there are people who cannot control it. They cannot concentrate on anything, find it hard to sit, always have the urge to interrupt someone. It is called attention deficit disorder.
The causes for ADD (which is also called as ADHD – attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) are unknown but it can be effectively treated with psychiatric meditations and psychotherapy.
The most common types of attention deficit disorder are:
- Combined ADHD (involves symptoms of hyperactivity and inattentiveness);
- Inattentive ADHD (impaired concentration and attention);
- Hyperactive-impulsive ADHD (hyperactivity without inattentiveness).
In order to diagnose ADHD, symptoms must appear before seven. However, it is not always the case as adults can also be diagnosed with ADHD. The symptoms in childhood and adulthood may vary. For instance, adults usually experience restlessness instead of hyperactivity.
Medication is a rare form of ADHD treatment and is prescribed only in severe cases. What is more, long-term effect of medication is still not clear. Need to find out more about attention deficit disorder? Feel free to visit …
