Ecological politics essay sample

Green politics came to the western political arena in the 1970s. The term was applied to political parties that pursued environmentalism, democracy, and peace. Since then, the Green ideology spread across the world, and many countries acquired a Green party, which had a little electorate. They are common in Europe as the early green movement started from Germany and the Netherlands. In some countries Green parties are still functioning, however, they are neither the only nor the major defenders of ecological issues.

The major goals of the green movement such as ecological and social sustainability were overtaken by the largest non-profit organizations in the world. All of them have some areas of specialization and raise funds to solve ecological problems. The Environmental Protection Agency is the federal regulator of environmental policies in the US. The agency has a comprehensive approach towards environmental issues in America as its legislation concerns the protection of air, water, land, ecosystems as well as utilization of wastes.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is an initiative of the UN that is aimed to provide a scientific view on the current environmental challenges. The organization reviews and estimates available information but it does not conduct scientific research itself. The National Wildlife Federation is the largest American preservation organization that aims at preserving animals. It cooperates with local agencies of 48 states. It also takes care of other issues like conserving clean rivers and lands to preserve animals and plants there.
